Job Description

 Job Title : Senior Paralegal

Status: Exempt

Why this role is important:

At Aither Health, we're looking for a Senior  Paralegal who is ready to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.  We're on a mission to transform health insurance, and we need passionate, motivated, innovative people to help us get there. As part of the Aither team, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact, work on exciting legal challenges, and collaborate with a dynamic group of professionals. We offer a flexible, hybrid work environment that values collaboration, creativity and growth.

This role reports directly to our Chief Legal Officer (CLO) but will support the entire organization - collaborating across teams to manage legal and regulatory compliance matters. If you have experience in the health insurance industry, contracting, and/or regulatory compliance, we'd love to hear from you!

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting Legal Documents: You'll take the lead on drafting and reviewing standard legal documents, including non-disclosure agreements, administrative service agreements, and business associate agreements.  You'll also help to review and negotiate vendor contracts, network agreements, and provider agreements.

  • Responding to Regulatory Inquiries: You'll be responsible for responding to inquiries from regulatory agencies, ensuring that any issues are resolved promptly and effectively.

  • Licensing:  You'll play a central role in filing, renewing, and keeping our company licenses and registrations up to date, including navigating the process for obtaining and maintaining Third Party Administrator (TPA) licenses in multiple states.

  • Contract Management: You'll help to create, implement and manage Aither's contracting process. You'll oversee the entire contracting lifecycle, including drafting, distributing and tracking the status of legal documents. You'll coordinate with internal teams, clients and external parties to ensure that contracts are reviewed, signed and countersigned in a timely matter.

  • Legal Research and Analysis: You'll monitor and analyze changes in laws and regulations that impact Aither Health and our self-funded clients, providing timely updates to the CLO, Aither's Executive Team and other interested parties.

  • Litigation Support: While this isn't a litigation-focused role, you will provide essential support to outside counsel handling litigation matters. This includes coordinating documents, managing timelines, assisting with the preparation of legal materials, and ensuring smooth communication between the internal team and outside counsel to help resolve legal issues timely and effectively.

  • Special Projects & General Support: You'll assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Health Insurance Experience: You’ve worked in the health insurance industry and understand the regulatory and legal landscape, particularly when it comes to contracts and compliance. TPA licensing experience is a huge plus.

  • Contracting Expertise: You’re familiar with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and have a solid understanding of legal language.

  • Research Skills: You excel at legal research and can provide clear, actionable insights to inform business decisions.

  • Organizational Mastery: You know how to juggle multiple projects and deadlines, whether it's managing contracts, overseeing licensing renewals, or handling legal documents.

  • Attention to Detail: Legal work demands precision, and you have an eagle eye for details that others might miss.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Whether you’re interacting with the Executive Team, external counsel, or other departments, you’re able to communicate complex legal concepts in a way that’s clear and accessible.

  • Confidentiality & Discretion: You understand the importance of handling sensitive information with care and exercising discretion at all times.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience, preferably in the health insurance industry.

  • Experience in contract drafting, review and management.

  • Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, the Affordable Care Act and/or other related employee benefit laws preferred.

  • Experience in obtaining and maintaining state business licenses (e.g., TPA licenses) preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a hybrid position with the expectation of an in-office presence. However, Aither Health will consider remote applicants for this role based on experience and fit.

  • Compensation range: $70,000-$90,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This range represents a good faith estimate and may be adjusted based on the candidate's experience, skills and overall fit.
