
Job Title: Paralegal
Start Date: Immediately
Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000/Annually DOE
Position Overview: The Paralegal will provide crucial support to JR & CO., Inc., focusing on construction-related lawsuits, debt collection, and the management of contract and bid documentation. This role offers the opportunity to apply your legal expertise within the specific demands of the construction industry.
Essential Job Functions:
- Review and analyze various construction contracts.
- Collaborate with attorneys and the accounting department to resolve contract and billing discrepancies.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, executive team, and the Board of Directors on a wide range of legal issues.
- Prepare and provide legal information necessary for prequalification applications and project proposals.
- Draft legal correspondence, including letters, pleadings, and standard legal forms.
- Maintain organized backup documentation and essential information for legal matters.
- Gather, organize, and manage information related to assigned legal cases.
- Conduct thorough research and analyze data to develop factual narratives for case preparation.
- Track and process contracts and agreements from the initial proposal stage through execution and distribution.
- Develop responses to subpoenas and manage the document discovery process in collaboration with attorneys.
- Provide guidance and coaching to project teams and individuals on relevant legal processes, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate and actively participate in specific legal projects as required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional proficiency in both written and oral communication.

- Demonstrated ability to adapt effectively to the evolving needs of JR & CO., Inc.
- Excellent organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Competence in operating standard general office equipment.
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive legal and company information.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License (MO Class E or equivalent).

- Ability to represent the company in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Demonstrate respect towards customers, supervisors, and team members, communicating any concerns professionally and adhering to company standards of conduct and policies.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
- Completion of an accredited paralegal program or possession of a recognized paralegal certification.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrable experience working as a paralegal.
- Solid knowledge of legal concepts and principles specifically relevant to the construction industry.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Must successfully pass an initial drug test and participate in the company's random drug testing program.
- The primary work environment is indoors within a standard office setting.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Sufficient visual capability to make fine distinctions for proofreading and viewing information on a computer screen.
- Adequate digital dexterity to assemble, retrieve, and replace files, as well as to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability to travel as needed for job-related purposes.
