Job Description

Responsibilities and Position Requirements:

  1. Design, develop, and deliver software applications training programs and individual classes, including:
  1. New employee training
  2. Periodic in-depth training on supported applications
  3. Lunch-time training sessions on specific topics
  4. Train temporary secretaries on firm standard applications and procedures
  5. Law Clerk training
  6. One-on-one training as requested
  1. Serve as the first line for escalation of issues arising from the Help Desk, SMEs, remote trainers and/or the community of users who consume training services.
  2. Deliver proactive floor support on supported applications.
  3. Proficient in use of the firm’s standard desktop applications, including, but not limited to, iManage, Microsoft Office 2016, Payne Consulting Group’s Numbering Assistant, Levit & James’ Stylizer and Best Authority, Adobe Acrobat, iTimekeep, Workshare Pro, and InterAction.
  4. Serve as an administrator for the UniversitySite Learning Management System.
  5. Help develop new templates, autotext, etc. to assist users in automating tasks.
  6. Create and communicate learning plans in consultation with departmental decision makers.
  7. Establish and maintain a database to track training participants’ status and results.
  8. Administer training event feedback mechanisms through UniversitySite. Analyze results, make recommendations for training improvement, and integrate changes in curriculum and/or courses.
  9. Develop, analyze, and update training documentation.
  10. Work closely with Applications Support Analysts in creating and maintaining courseware.
  11. Ensure availability of necessary manuals and handouts for each course.
  12. Provide input into the overall training budget.
  13. Provide input to identify training requirements originating from new projects and departmental initiatives.
  14. Visit McGlinchey offices several times per year to conduct group and one-on-one training.
  15. Participate in business process improvement initiatives.
  16. Responsible for self-development through professional organization membership, seminars/workshops or exposure to articles, white papers and other information made available through industry press.

 

Skills and Prior Experience:

    • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or education, and/or five years equivalent work experience.
    • MOUS Certifications desired.
    • Legal industry experience desired.
    • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of enterprise and desktop applications, including Office 2016, iManage, and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Proven experience with adult learning principles, methodologies, and course design techniques.
    • Knowledge of trends in computer technology relating to software.
    • Experience with a Learning Management System.
    • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including instructional and presentation skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on motivational skills and positive attitude.
    • Ability to conduct research into course development and delivery concepts, as well as technical software issues.
    • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
    • Highly self-motivated and directed.
    • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.
    • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Very strong customer service orientation.

Physical Requirements:

    • Occasional travel to McGlinchey offices is required.
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
