About the Position: This position is located at the Detroit Arsenal, U.S. Army Materiel Command Legal Center - Detroit Arsenal. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.
Duties- Serves as a Senior Labor Counselor in civilian personnel, labor and employment discrimination law.
- Provides expert legal advice and prepares decisions or other documents for deciding officials on administrative grievances, disciplinary and removal actions, or other labor and employment issues.
- Represents the agency in actions before administrative or other tribunals, such as the Merit Systems Protection Board and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
- Provides legal advice and oversees the preparation of opinions relating to the organization, powers, and functions of the command to include the authority of a military command.
- Provides legal advice and drafts responses for the Commander and other Army Senior Leaders at the Detroit Arsenal on higher Headquarters/Congressional/Presidential and staff inquiries.
- Acts as a Senior Staff Attorney on lawsuits filed in the U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Court of Claims and the circuit courts against the Agency.
- Serves as an Ethics Counselor providing legal advice and counseling to management and employees.
- Reviews, researches and provides legal interpretation of a wide range of federal environmental statutes.
- Acts as legal advisor on investigations, prepares investigation appointment documents, and reviews investigations for legal sufficiency.
- Provides assistance with issues and actions involving administrative law matters, environmental law, fiscal law, and ethics.
