JOB DESCRIPTION



POSITION: CORPORATE COUNSEL

LOCATION: Auburn Hills, MI



OBJECTIVE

Commercial Contracting Corporation is looking for an attorney to join our team as Corporate Counsel, reporting directly to the company’s General Counsel.  The preferred candidate is someone with commercial construction litigation experience and/or experience drafting commercial agreements, including contracts, NDA’s, teaming agreements, and joint venture agreements.  While experience in the construction industry is not required, the preferred candidate must be someone who is enthusiastic, thorough, a self-starter, highly motivated and excited to learn about the construction industry and its legal nuances.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction, service, supply and other commercial agreements and documents ensuring that both legal and business objectives are met;
  • Developing template forms and processes, including master terms and conditions, material supply agreements, service agreements, etc.
  • Providing legal support to internal team members, including assessing and advising on risk, drafting claim notices, and advising on project legal requirements;
  • Managing claims/litigation in areas including commercial disputes, personal injury, employment, safety, etc.
  • Handling other matters assigned by the General Counsel.



CORE COMPETENCIES

  • One to five years’ experience in a law firm or in-house setting
  • Able to work in an in-office environment – remote and hybrid work is not available
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Michigan
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with contracts and form agreements
  • Superb oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and handle multiple requests from internal clients/employees
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Along with strong legal skills, the attorney must exhibit a strong sense of ethics, integrity and sound judgment
  • Must be a team player
