Job Description

Freeman Mathis and Gary, LLP is a rapidly growing, national specialty litigation firm seeking an experienced paralegal to join our Walnut Creek, California, office. We are eagerly seeking candidates who foster a teamwork mentality, have excellent communication skills, are problem-solvers, and are willing to take ownership of their job. Flexibility and excellent organization skills are key in our fast-paced environment. This is a 100% in office position and remote work is not available.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys on our parachute trial team in the preparation of a civil case for trial.
  • Discovery and records management, including ordering records subpoenas and following up with vendor and respondent as required.
  • Summarize employment records, create medical chronologies, discovery responses (medical terminology knowledge helpful).
  • Prepare pre-trial documents.
  • Proficient in software programs such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision and exceptional attention to detail.

 

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate from ABA-approved program required (Must be Business & Professions Code §6450 compliant).
  • Familiarity with litigation process and factual and legal research tasks using web-based legal research services.
  • Willingness to learn in this fast-paced environment.
  • Prior office experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must successfully pass a background/drug screen
