About the RoleLendingClub’s Legal Team is looking for a Commercial Counsel to join the team. In this role, you will assist in supporting the enterprise procurement team as well as other general commercial and corporate matters. A successful candidate must have outstanding professional judgment and well-demonstrated communication, interpersonal, negotiation and drafting skills. You are able to work and solve problems under light supervision, anticipate and deliver on the needs of a fast-paced and innovative business, work seamlessly with cross-functional teams and simultaneously manage multiple projects and deliverables.What You'll Do- Provide legal support to the enterprise procurement team, including (i) maintaining templates and forms and (ii) drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements including master services, non-disclosure, referral, software licensing, professional services and various other commercial agreements
- Act as a trusted advisor to various business teams, as well as subject matter experts in marketing, risk, compliance, corporate technology, investor, credit, payment solutions and others
- Support the Legal Department in solving complex legal issues and advising on other general corporate matters as necessary
- Develop strong, collaborative relationships with various business teams across LendingClub
- Escalate issues, as appropriate, to collaboratively identify solutions, share potential concerns and work proactively to resolve with other members of the Commercial Legal Team
- J.D. degree and a state bar member in good standing
- 3+ years of combined law firm or in-house legal department commercial contract or corporate transactional experience, at a regulated financial institution (bank or credit union) or financial technology company
- You quickly understand business needs, apply solid professional judgment and work independently and effectively with business teams, other members of the Legal Department and other internal partners to create solutions to efficiently deliver results
- You develop collaborative relationships with internal partners (including company executives) and external customers and their counsel to complete transactions
- You possess a solid understanding of commercial legal concepts, strong drafting skills and contract negotiation capabilities, all with keen attention to detail
- You adapt well to a rapidly changing business environment and thrive on innovation and change
- You can manage multiple transactions or tasks, take on new responsibilities, and advise on novel issues
- You have the proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with internal partners and external customers, with comfort interacting with and influencing colleagues across business functions and job levels
- You have a high level of integrity and are able to adapt your message to differing audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of commercial agreements for a regulated financial institution (bank or credit union) or financial technology company whether in-house or in a law firm
- Solid negotiation capabilities, including the soft skills necessary to encourage, motivate and influence
- Ability to independently solicit information and input from different stakeholders as necessary and appropriate
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage aggressive deadlines with minimal supervision
- Excellent business and legal judgment
Work Location
San Francisco, Lehi
The above locations are eligible offices for this role. The locations have been determined to foster in-person collaboration with this role’s team or the related business lines. We utilize a hybrid work model, and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In-person attendance is essential for this role’s success, and remote placement will not be considered. LendingClub offers relocation, based on actual job level.

While the position will primarily work local hours, LendingClub is headquartered in Pacific Time and our ideal candidate will be flexible working across time zones when necessary.
Travel Requirements
Monthly/quarterly/as needed travel to LendingClub offices and/or other locations, as needed.
Compensation
The target base salary range for this position is 118,000-180,000. The base salary of the role will be determined by job-related knowledge, experience, education, skills, and location. Base salary is just one part of LendingClub’s Total Rewards package. You may also be eligible for long-term awards (equity) and an annual bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings).
