
Responsibilities:
- Provide tax planning, research, analysis and advisory support for federal, state, local and international tax issues and opportunities related to the company’s diverse businesses
- Provide counsel on transactional matters including structuring, tax due diligence, negotiation and drafting of documentation
- Provide counsel on special projects
- Advise on tax considerations of financial products and alternative investments
- Monitor and advise on impacts of tax legislative, regulatory and judicial developments
- Identify and mitigate tax risk
- Support tax audit and controversy matters
- Coordinate with tax accounting and compliance functions
- Collaborate with key business partners including Corporate Development, Finance, Investments and Legal
- Partner with outside tax counsel and accounting firms
- Monitor and advise on global tax trends and interesting transactions in markets
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
- J.D. with LL.M. in Taxation preferred
- 6+ years relevant experience at a law firm and/or corporate tax department
- In-depth working knowledge of U.S. federal income tax law (including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act), in particular Subchapter C, Subchapter K, taxation of consolidated groups, financial products and executive compensation
- Significant M&A/transactional tax experience, including negotiation, drafting and review of documentation, partnership agreements
- Experience with state, local and international tax concepts
- Experience with financial modeling
- Strategic thinking, strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, attention to detail, strong ethics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to distill complex concepts
- Collegial and collaborative presence
