Position Overview
As a paralegal to the in-house legal department, your primary responsibility will be to provide vital support to those attorneys focusing on transactional matters, from corporate operations to real estate and contracts. Your ability to understand, research and support attorneys regarding matters related to the board of directors, real estate, leases, and contracts will be key to your ability to provide the support needed to the in-house legal team. While the position is transactional focused, a willingness and ability to assist with other matters within the legal department, including litigation is important. Your position is key to meeting deadlines, obtaining needed information, keeping calendars on multiple projects at one time. You will also play a critical role in managing other key areas of the legal department from an operational standpoint.
The ideal candidate is a high-energy multi-tasker who can pivot from assisting with corporate matters (including matters related to the board of directors) and contracts to managing litigation deadlines . This role is essential to maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring the legal department meets its strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Chief Legal Officer: Assist Chief Legal Officer with all matters, including those related to the board of directors and work in connection to governmental affairs.
Transactional Support: Assist attorneys in the preparation, review, closing and execution of corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, financing, confidentiality agreements, leases and other real estate transactions and general contracts.
Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence reviews and organize virtual data rooms for corporate projects.
Litigation: Work with attorneys on litigation matters that arise out of general corporate functions including basic investigation, document compilation and organization, docketing of deadlines, etc.
Project Independence: Work independently on specialized projects while collaborating with the in-house team on large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
Requirements
Experience: 3–5 years of relevant paralegal experience; a paralegal certificate or bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required.
Technical Proficiency: High level of comfort with Microsoft Office Suite, AI based platforms (Gemini and NotebookLM) and legal tech (document management systems and e-signature platforms).
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a focus on professional diplomacy.
Organization: Proven ability to prioritize a diverse workload involving multiple stakeholders and legal deadlines. Experience with process improvement is beneficial
Ethics: Demonstrated ability to uphold the strictest standards of confidentiality and professional ethics.
Working Conditions
Schedule: Full-time. After an initial interim period of 5-days in the office, the position has the ability to transition to 1 day of work from home, and the future potential for hybrid (3 days/week in office after the first year), with an understanding that the continued need to collaborate in person with others may require full-time presence in office.
