Are you interested in municipal law with a desire to serve the public interest? Join us! We are accepting applications for a Legal Support Intern in our City Attorney’s Office. Duties include: building training content and tracking engagement and completion for boards, committees, and commission members; assisting in scheduling court appearances and witnesses; updating the City’s bond book and published Code of Ordinances; assisting in preparing evidence and files; and much more! The intern will be exposed to all aspects of municipal law.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled or recent graduate in paralegal studies, criminal justice, legal studies, or a related field at a university or college, OR a legal support certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a law office or in a similar legal administrative support setting
Length of Internship:
- 12 hours per week Monday – Thursday through December 2026

JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SCOPE
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for managing administrative tasks within the City Attorney’s Office. This position will learn and administer important customer service functions for the City Attorney’s Office, serve as a resource to fellow City staff members, and manage important aspects of litigation preparation. This position will take ownership of independent projects with guidance from supervising attorneys.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Build training content and track engagement and completion for Boards, Committees, and Commission members.
Update the City's bond book and published Code of Ordinances.
In coordination with the Clerk of Courts Office and Police Department, assist in processing pretrial conference resolutions and prosecution scheduling.
Develop documentation of the City’s engagement in development projects.
Update the City Attorney's FAQs and information available to the public through the City's website.
Assist in scheduling court appearances and witnesses.
Review, organize, and prepare documentation for potential litigation of public nuisance or drug house properties.
Assist in preparing evidence and files.
Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones and engaging with the public as necessary.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled or recent graduate in paralegal studies, criminal justice, legal studies, or a related field at a university or college, OR a legal support certificate is required.
Experience working in a law office or in a similar legal administrative support setting is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
