The International Institute of New England is a 501(c)(3) non-profit serving refugees and immigrants in Boston, MA, Lowell, MA, and Manchester, NH. The Institute offers internships to students, graduate students, and recent graduates with demonstrated interest or experience in supporting refugee, asylee, and immigrant populations. Each internship includes an educational component, through which interns contextualize their experience and reflect on their service.
All internships are unpaid and correspond roughly with the US semester system.
- Fall Internship: September through December 2025.
First consideration is given to applicants that can commit at least 16 hours per week over the course of the semester outlined above. Applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of whether their schedule fits the semester system; IINE makes exceptions on a case-by-case basis. Slots fill quickly and candidates are encouraged to apply earlier than the requested date above.
Please note that this internship will be a hybrid format, meaning that some in-person hours at our Boston, MA office are require.
Operations Internship Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Intern to join our team. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in non-profit operations, project coordination, and organizational efficiency. The intern will assist with day-to-day operational activities and support internal process improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
- Support creation and maintenance of resource webpages in SharePoint
- Assist in tracking and managing vendor and partner records
- Support team with documentation, scheduling, and file organization
- Help streamline internal workflows using tools like SharePoint, Asana, and Excel
- Participate in data entry and database maintenance (Salesforce)
- Assist with onboarding/offboarding tasks for employees
- Support logistics for internal meetings, trainings, and events
- Perform administrative tasks to support the operations team
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Operations, Management, or a related field
- Interest in international, refugee, asylee, and immigrant issues
- Ability to work respectfully in a multicultural environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and to switch gears quickly
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook)
- Familiarity with tools like Asana, SharePoint, or Salesforce is a plus
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
