Position Summary:
Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete LLP seeks to add a full-time Litigation Paralegal to our Rochester, NY office. This position is based in Rochester supporting the Partner there but will also remotely assist the attorneys in our New York City office remotely.
Applicants must reside within the Rochester Metropolitan Area to be considered for this job opportunity. Experience handling civil litigation matters in labor & employment practice is required. This position will follow cases through the full litigation lifecycle.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as legal team liaison to client representatives, third parties, and opposing counsel to effectively manage flow and accuracy of information in employment litigation related matters
- Prepares correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents from written and oral drafts. Draft shells of discovery responses and other related documents required by or related to the litigation process, other client matters, or any other attorney-requested item; understands specialty areas of practice and can attach appropriate enclosures for specialty area without the need for supervision.
- Organize documents and coordinate document productions. Conduct the bates-stamping, redaction, duplication and indexing of documents. Set up and maintain files which are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter. Work with Litigation Support Specialist on electronic productions. Under the guidance of an attorney, categorize documents by subject matter, prepare a chronology of facts and create production charts. Maintain calendar regarding case docket and court deadlines.
- Provide support to supervising attorneys with administrative charges and litigation matters, including but not limited to drafting discovery requests and responses, preparing trial binders, chronologies, and deposition summaries
- Assist with assembling affidavits and supporting evidence with respect to evidentiary motions
- E-filing with state and federal courts
- Organize, maintain, and supervise data and document collection for various matters
- Prepare, develop, and maintain employment-related reports through manipulation of human resources related data
- Research, analyze and summarize legal sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treatises, constitutions, legal codes and law-related information relevant to the employment litigation practice
- Consistently and professionally communicate with clients, opposing counsel, vendors, and firm personnel
- Additional duties assigned by Partner
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience preparing for and assisting in trials in New York state and federal court and/or arbitrations
- Proficiency in New York E-filing on a state and federal level required
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Adobe/Kofax, CompuLaw, and Westlaw
- Years of experience in relevant L&E litigation environments will be prioritized over holding a High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate is a plus
Qualities Ideal Candidates Will Have:
- 3+ years of experience in litigation; Management-side employment defense is preferred
- Ability to effectively set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects for several attorneys
- Exceptional organizational skills: the innate ability to anticipate attorney needs and routinely follow-up on client deadlines, emails, and calendar appointments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on correct grammar, spelling, and correct usage of legal terminology

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000.
