The Legal Affairs Manager reports to the Chief Legal Officer and is responsible for performing the duties necessary to protect the corporate interests of the company in its legal affairs. This role identifies and implements remedial actions to mitigate the company’s business risks while championing integrity and ethical behavior. While the primary focus is on legal affairs, the position also serves as a key backup and collaborator for the compliance function, ensuring seamless integration between legal and regulatory responsibilities.

- Review, revise, and approve external contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and legal standards
- Coordinate patent and trademark matters
- Serve as liaison with external legal counsel
- Manage inbound and outbound legal communications with customers, suppliers, and partners
- Provide legal support to internal departments including marketing, sales, and product development
- Support the management of personal injury and property damage claims to ensure timely and effective resolution
- Participate in insurance-related legal tasks and facility management legal issues
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all legal documents and correspondence
- Contribute to the company’s legal database and internal process documentation
- Review and monitor legal expenses
- Ensure all business activities align with company contracts, policies, ethics, and code of conduct
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with the company’s operations and products
- Collaborate with the compliance team to address legal aspects of regulatory and product compliance
- Support coordination with global compliance teams (e.g., Shanghai, Europe) on product development and testing
- Assist in managing relationships with regulatory bodies such as the CPSC
- Provide legal insight into compliance-related engineering and product safety initiatives
- Help evaluate and enhance internal testing processes and documentation
- Stay informed on industry standards and regulatory changes impacting product compliance
Competencies:
- Strong legal acumen in contract law and risk management
- Experience with regulatory compliance in consumer products
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and international teams
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High attention to detail and confidentiality
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certificate (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in legal affairs or compliance within the consumer products industry
- Strong knowledge of business contract law and regulatory compliance
- Experience with personal injury/property damage claims and insurance matters
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
