Job Description

Legal Intern Opportunity starting May 19th!

The Ohio Industrial Commission is seeking (3) three motivated legal interns to join our team in the Columbus Office. Gain hands-on experience in workers’ compensation law, assisting with research, case preparation and administrative hearings. Ideal candidates are law students with strong analytical skills and interest in public service.
This opportunity will help gain workers’ compensation experience for possible future employment as a hearing officer, adjudicating claims and shaping Ohio’s workers’ compensation system.

Under the direction of the Regional Office Manager &/or designee, aids the Regional Office in researching issues arising under Ohio Workers' Compensation Laws & reviews medical & procedural issues in claims & compiles information.  

  • Reviews Hearing Officer Manuals & Adjudications Before the Ohio Industrial Commission.  
  • Attends hearings at all levels.
  • Attends and reviews hearing officer training and course materials as directed by the Hearing Officer Trainer and Regional Manager and/or designee.

Must be enrolled at an accredited law school and first year of law school completed.

Our mission is to serve injured workers and Ohio employers through expeditious and impartial resolution of issues arising from workers’ compensation claims and through the establishment of adjudication policy. 

This is an on-site position and in-office presence is required.

Must submit official college transcript or enrollment verification. 

The hourly wage for this position is not negotiable. Hourly pay rates vary according to graduate college level enrollment status. 

Pay Scale:

  • Graduate 2nd year $22.50
  • Graduate 3rd year $24.00
