Job Description

Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week, plus Baltimore County benefits.

A non-merit vacancy exists in the State's Attorney's Office for Baltimore County.

Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan. 

A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.

About the Position:
This job opening is for the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office. We are located in the Circuit Court Building in Towson.  Hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.,  M-F.  We provide paid vacation leave, personal leave and sick days as well as paid county/federal holidays.  

Examples of Duties: 
This position is responsible for the performance of general legal secretarial and administrative duties. The ideal candidate should be able to interact professionally with attorneys, victims and witnesses, have the ability to multitask, have exceptional organizational skills, a positive attitude, be able to work independently, demonstrate enthusiasm to learn new ideas and concepts, and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
 
Legal Secretary Duties include:

 Maintain the electronic Case Management System

  • Prepare various documents and correspondence
  • Responsible for scanning documents into electronic Case Management System
  • Gathering and compiling information for attorney work product
  • Answering telephone calls               

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 
A high school diploma or equivalent.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application.  Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.

Conditions of Employment

The work of this position is primarily sedentary, with occasional bending and light lifting to perform tasks associated with office work.

All applicants must be of good moral character and emotionally stable, as determined by a comprehensive background investigation.
 
Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.
