About the Position:

The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Corporate Paralegal in our Store Support Center (099). As a Corporate Paralegal, you will be responsible for providing paraprofessional support directly to all internal attorneys in the various areas listed below under the supervision of the company’s General Counsel.  The Corporate Paralegal will also engage with the executive management team, internal business units, store employees, government agencies, and third-party consultants on a regular basis. The position will be hybrid, requiring approximately three (3) days in the office with the ability to work remotely otherwise.

What You'll Do:

Providing paraprofessional support to the Legal Department in the following areas:

  • Contracts:
    • Prepare, review, and negotiate routine documents, agreements, and amendments
    • Oversee and update the contracts database system
    • Manage templates, filing agreements, and track renewal dates and deadlines.
  • Employment:
    • Coordinate subpoena responses and information requests with attorneys
    • Stay abreast of employment law changes and advise on necessary adjustments
    • Provide support to internal and external attorneys with administrative agency charges
  • Litigation:
    • Oversee the discovery process for litigation with internal and external attorneys
    • Maintain intake and status logs for litigation and external matters
    • Manage litigation holds and related logs
  • Real Estate:
    • Draft real estate and corporate documents using templates
    • Assist with title and other due diligence matters
    • Coordinate execution and recordation of commercial real estate documents
  • Trademarks:
    • Review and assess new marks, slogans, and potential infringement claims
    • Maintain files on trademark disputes and manage trademark logs
    • Track trademark maintenance and filing deadlines
  • Other Matters:
    • Conduct research used to resolve questions of internal attorneys or company clients
    • Use, develop and update templates commonly needed by internal company clients
    • Code, manage and track legal invoices
    • Perform routine administrative duties such as mailings, photocopying/scanning, proofreading and maintaining legal department files
    • Make appropriate regulatory filings and communicate with local and state regulators
    • Support the preparation of corporate documents, ensure regulatory compliance, organize board meetings, and maintain corporate records

Qualifications:

At a minimum, you will need:

  • Paralegal certification/associate’s degree
  • 5+ years of corporate paralegal experience, ideally with consumer-facing employers
  • Experience in employment law, contract review/drafting, and litigation
  • Highly organized, deadline-focused, and detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, problem-solver, and flexible team player
  • Ability to multitask and work independently under pressure
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of internal and personnel information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quick to learn new software
