Job Description

The Paralegal Clerk is a valued member of our preeminent Global Regulatory practice. They will provide support to lawyers during the entire regulatory submission process, from the initial information-gathering stage through the final submission and review by the regulatory agency, and ending with careful archival of case material. Subject to the supervision of the attorney(s) responsible for the matter, the Paralegal Clerk may assist in such tasks as correspondence, submission assembly, meeting minutes, redactions, and regulatory research. They also play a significant role in the retrieval, review and production of documents pursuant to government agency investigations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage multiple active legal matters;

  • Coordinate document retrieval, review, organization, and production;

  • Maintain agency correspondence files;

  • Maintain database of all pending government agency submissions;

  • Correspond with clients, counsel, government agency personnel, and/or vendors;

  • Perform research in government agency databases and scientific literature;

  • Meet the minimum requirement of 1,650 annual billable hours; 

  • All members of the firm are encouraged to participate in our Global Citizenship program;

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products;

  • Strong knowledge of Adobe and/or Nuance preferred;

  • Excellent attention to detail and excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills;

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, with or without direct supervision, and coordinate multiple projects;

  • Proven ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality in highly sensitive matters;

  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and work experience;

  • One (1)+ year of paralegal experience preferred;

  • Large law firm experience desirable;

  • Proven experience performing database and/or academic research desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes required to lift equipment and/or move boxes up to 20 pounds.

HOURS

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including one hour for lunch, with flexibility for overtime as needed.

In Washington, DC, the annualized salary range for this position is $50,000 to $54,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.  In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exist.
