(SSR) provides free legal representation to pregnant women, women with children, or women who are child caregivers and have been brought into the criminal, child welfare, and housing legal systems. Still She Rises seeks to employ highly motivated individuals with a commitment to indigent defense. Founded in North Tulsa, Still She Rises offers client-centered, innovative, and holistic legal representation. We honor the dignity of the women we serve by championing our clients’ individual goals while also targeting systemic issues impacting the larger community.

Job Description

Over a period of 10 weeks, interns at Still She Rises, Inc. will both receive intensive training in various legal disciplines and play an integral role in the provision of holistic representation to our clients. Interns will receive training about the holistic defense model from practitioners across different disciplines, participate in trial skills training, and have close, ongoing supervision from our attorneys, investigators and advocates.

Legal Interns will also assist Still She Rises, Inc. attorneys in every aspect of the client representation from initial interview through trial. Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
  • Preparing for hearings and trial
  • Interviewing clients and witnesses
  • Conducting legal research
  • Writing legal motions
  • Connecting clients with necessary resources

As of the date of this posting, courts in Tulsa County remain open to the public and continue to conduct legal hearings in person. As such, we anticipate our legal internship program to be in person. We will continue to communicate regarding the state of the Tulsa County courts.

Interns will have the opportunity to work across legal disciplines as part of our holistic team, but can specify their primary interest in criminal defense, family defense or civil generalist practice.
