Job Description
The incumbent reports directly to the Assistant General Counsel and is under the general direction of the Principal Deputy General Counsel. The incumbent is expected to exercise judgment in the day-to-day planning, direction, and management of the professional legal work of the office. Except on matters of unusual importance or where an exceptional policy matter is involved, incumbent's decisions and judgments in legal matters are not checked or reviewed.
Duties Working with and making recommendations directly to the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, the Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes, the Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis, the Director of Treasury Executive Office for Asset Forfeiture, and Director of the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau; Supervising the provision of legal advice to Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence and the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau through the Chief Counsels of the Office of Foreign Assets Control, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, and Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, and the Legal Counsels of Office of Intelligence and Analysis and Treasury's Executive Office for Asset Forfeiture. Setting up or directing broad legal programs (and not merely the adjudication of individual cases); Coordinating the legal activities of the office within Treasury and with other Departments and Agencies; Formulating recommendations for legislation, rulemakings, enforcement actions, and guidance; and Making decisions on legal matters involving the exercise of judgment and discretion as well as the legal analysis of issues. Salary- $147,649 - $221,900/year
