Purpose
Dean Morse is seeking two Academic Assistants for her Financial Methods for Lawyers course.
Responsibilities
Estimated 10-20 hours
Review and comment on coursebook and class slide decks
Support creation of new Excel assignment(s) and revised quiz questions
Estimated 30 hours
Attend class, T Th 10:30-11:37, for 21 classes
Keep records of who is called on in class and make on-call lists
Present a 15-minute segment in one class during the semester
Estimated 15-20 hours
Hold about 12 office hour sessions of 60 minutes each and keep true-up point records
Respond to student email with questions about substance or points
Estimated 5-10 hours
Keep attendance records for @50 students each
Estimated 5 hours
Draft quiz questions
Estimated 5 hours
Draft and revise answers to Excel spreadsheet problems
Estimated 5 hours
Distribute audio or video recordings for students with accommodations
Academic Assistants in Financial Methods will not have any grading responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
Enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin as a law student
Meet minimum eligibility requirements for student employment
Authorized to work in the United States
Ability to work in the fall 2025 semester
Have taken Financial Methods for Lawyers at Texas Law
Preferred Qualifications
Work experience in finance and/or accounting
Teaching, tutoring or coaching experience of any kind
Salary Range
$21 per hour
Work Schedule
Position begins on August 1 and ends on or about November 15
Work includes 10:30-11:37 Tuesday/Thursday class attendance
Office hours at a mutually convenient time weekly given employee’s schedule and schedule of students in class
Other work can be completed independently on a schedule that the employee determines with oversight and direction regarding deadlines and deliverables
