Nelson Mullins is seeking a seasoned litigation paralegal in our brand-new Chicago office to assist attorneys with commercial litigation and complex product liability matters.
The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle. Along with the desire to work in an advisory role to assist in mentoring and training other paralegals and practice assistants. Performing a broad range of substantive paralegal tasks, this candidate will work directly with attorneys on product liability, toxic tort disputes, complex commercial litigation, business litigation and other complex business disputes in a variety of industries. This individual will act as a case manager for this litigation team and will be responsible for creating and maintaining a system for document management and file organization. This individual will also have a significant amount of trial experience, an extensive knowledge and ability to build relationships and manage vendors and is someone capable of putting together necessary trial teams.
The ideal candidate for this position possesses strong organizational skills, well-developed critical thinking skills, is very detailed oriented, has a working knowledge of various eDiscovery and document management platforms as well as Microsoft office, has a strong sense of accountability, takes ownership over projects and responsibilities, resolves issues proactively, and knows how to be a true team player. This individual is also a technology pro and has no problem learning new software.
2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education.
Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
