Shutts & Bowen, a full-service law firm serving clients locally, nationally, and internationally, is seeking a Paralegal Clerk to work in the Miami, FL office in our Mass Litigation department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS *May perform any or all of the following*
- Candidates will be considered only with at least 1+ years working in a law firm;
- Heavy scheduling, including but not limited to scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, telephone conferences, Zoom meetings, adjournments, and court deadlines.
- Daily e-filing and e-service in state court.
- Prepare draft documents for attorney review, including but not limited to discovery requests, discovery responses, various motions, and proposed orders.
- Answer and direct telephone calls.
- Strong technical skills and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Responsible for case management of active files, including reviewing documents for accuracy, scheduling, and docketing requests, and compiling documents to prepare analyses and electronic files.
- Performs additional duties as instructed and assigned; and
- Physical attendance and punctuality at the place of work; this position is not remote or hybrid.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of court filing and scheduling procedures;
- This position requires keen attention to detail and efficiency due to the high-volume workload.
- Thorough knowledge of general office practices, policies, and business English.
- Operates computer, printer, copier, fax, and mailroom equipment.
- Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize workload, and adjust to changing priorities as needed.
- Ability to deal effectively with candidates, attorneys, and co-workers.
- Ability to type at 60 words per minute.
- Ability to lift and move 10 lbs.
- Active listening, reading, service orientation, coordination, and social perceptiveness.
- Knowledge of office skills such as data entry, filing, phone etiquette, and composition of simple business letters; and
- Ability to organize time efficiently among a variety of duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- State court electronic filing, knowledge of IManage, a plus.
- 1+ years of previous law firm experience in Litigation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal skills, business English spelling and grammar.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize workload, and adjust to changing priorities as needed.
- Friendly, cooperative manner and good team spirit; and
- Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments.

- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- An employee is subject to inside environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
- Hours: 9:00 AM-5:30 PM.
