The Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney is dedicated to the principles of public safety, equity, honesty, and fairness. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Receptionist / File Room Clerk to join our team. This dual-role position is ideal for someone who enjoys providing excellent front desk service while keeping records and files organized behind the scenes.Departmental Hiring Salary: $20.00 an hourWork Hours: Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, 20 hours per week- Essential Functions
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Greet and assist visitors and staff in a professional manner
Answer direct phone calls, take messages, and manage inquiries
Maintain and organize physical and electronic filing systems
Retrieve, file, and track documents as needed
Perform general clerical duties including data entry, photocopying, and scanning
Support office staff with administrative tasks as assigned
- Education/Experience
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, case management systems, and have a working knowledge of legal terminology, forms, and procedures. As a public face of this Office and of the justice system, people skills and a positive attitude are a must. Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
No experience required.
Preferred Experience/Skills:Previous experience in reception, clerical, or office support preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) a plus
