You will work within a dynamic global Legal team and join a growing data privacy and protection group. This role will report to the Senior Counsel, Data Privacy & Protection. This position will be based in Santa Clara, CA.
What You Can Expect
- Provide clear and practical advice to global stakeholders on privacy and data protection laws, AI-related regulations, data governance, and privacy-by-design.
- Advise on and support responses to data incidents and data subject requests.
- Draft and maintain external privacy notices and disclosures that comply with global privacy laws.
- Support privacy and data protection contract negotiations, prepare and maintain data processing agreements, and provide advice to Marvell’s Commercial Transactions lawyers on data privacy and protection matters in vendor and customer negotiations.
- Advise on, design, and lead privacy assessments (PIAs, LIAs, DPIAs) for internal data usage, third party sharing, and cross-border transfers.
- Advocate for internal privacy principles and identify creative ways to embed privacy concepts into operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across teams and global locations to develop and implement data privacy legal requirements and best practices into Marvell systems and processes.
- Stay current on evolving privacy, AI, cybersecurity, information technology, and data breach notification laws, developments, and frameworks to provide practical and strategic advice.
What We're Looking For
- J.D. degree and 5 years of legal experience either in-house at a technology company and/or at a law firm counseling companies focusing on privacy and data protection issues.
- 3+ years specializing in privacy and data protection law in-house with demonstrated knowledge of CCPA, GDPR, PIPL, and other global cyber and privacy regulations.
- CIPP/E, CIPP/US, or other equivalent certification preferred.
- Membership in good standing with a state bar, and ability to practice in California.
- Strong legal analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to champion privacy while delivering practical solutions that accelerate business success.
- Strong technical acumen, being able to quickly understand technical details associated with privacy solutions.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to motivate in a cross-functional organization.
- Able to see the “big picture”-the end-to-end connection points across privacy, data, and systems.
- Self-starter who doesn't hesitate to proactively approach situations.
- A 'can do' spirit combined with high energy and a positive attitude.
- Santa Clara, CA base strongly preferred, but may consider other locations including Irvine, CA or Austin, TX.
Expected Base Pay Range (USD)
143,290 - 214,600, $ per annumThe successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
