Duties- Communicate with the Emergency Department and Nursing Staff to arrange patient transfers to other healthcare facilities.
- Provide administrative support to the Air Evacuation section by monitoring flight manifests for incoming and outgoing patients, and distribute manifests to appropriate staff.
- Gather demographic data for patient admission and assemble patient ward packets to distribute updated admission and disposition reports.
- Assist the supervisor in distributing workload among employees to ensure alignment with established workflow and timelines.
- Instruct employees on specific tasks and job techniques and provide written instructions and reference materials as needed.
- Prepare and submit written reports to the supervisor of employee’s performance, training needs and disciplinary matters.
- Verify patient eligibility during admission using the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System.
- Monitor the message center for updates and communication from wards and hospital staff and relay critical information to appropriate personnel.
- Monitor patient departure times to add data and information in automated health systems.

Specialized Experience: In order to qualify, your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one year of specialized experience which includes verifying patient's medical benefits; scheduling medical or non-medical appointments; entering and/or retrieving data from automated electronic healthcare systems/databases; and reviewing correspondence for grammar, format or regulatory compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
