
Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II and the immediate supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the Legal Support Supervisor II will supervise approximately two or more Legal Support Supervisors I, a staff of 25 or more legal secretaries, executive support, two or more supporting clerical, and related general office services. The Legal Support Supervisor II will plan, organize, and assign legal secretarial teams and clerical staff in providing legal and clerical services to the legal staff; supervise the planning and flow of work; assign and reassign staff to meet changing workload conditions; plan, review, evaluate, and recommend changes of operating procedures and, through subordinates, direct their implementation of the preparation of manuals, and perform a wide variety of administrative duties to maintain the support functions of a large legal office.
The Legal Support Supervisor II will also disseminate changes in policy and procedures to support staff on a regular basis; hold team/staff meetings and meet with attorney staff to discuss the efforts of the support staff to provide quality service. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: complete ongoing reports and special projects as delegated by the Office Manager or Statewide Manager such as career counseling, training, and ergonomic evaluations and recruiting and hiring support personnel, including subordinate supervisors. They will also assure that support employees receive adequate training and monitor continuing training efforts; approve probationary reports of performance and take or recommend appropriate personnel action; counsel employees; approve Manager or Statewide Manager in preparing budget materials.
