Summary


The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Legal Administrative Professional I. Legal Administrative Professionalhandle a variety of legal office support tasks performed under general supervision, requiring an ability to exercise sound independent judgment. If you seek enriching, meaningful work and a chance to serve your community while working as part of a collaborative team, this opportunity may be for you.

Work Location: King County Courthouse, 516 3rd Ave, Seattle, WA 98104

Work Schedule: This position works a 40-hour work week schedule, normally Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. An alternative schedule is subject to supervisor approval. This position is eligible for King County’s generous benefits package. 

Employees assigned to this position enjoy a hybrid work schedule that allows telecommuting, with a minimum of 2-days in office per week, subject to business needs and a telecommuting agreement. If a successful candidate is new to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, they will be required to work in office four days a week for the first six months of employment.

Salary:  Range 38 - $28.19 (step one) - $35.73 (step ten) hourly*

Union Membership: Positions in this classification are represented by Teamsters Local No. 117.

Selection Process:

Materials will be reviewed for qualifications, and the most competitive candidates may be invited to participate in a panel interview process. Current PAO employees who are represented by Teamsters Local No. 117 will receive priority consideration.

* In addition to the benefits listed on the benefits tab, employees with less than 2 years of service will receive .25 per hour less than the hourly salary table due to a mandatory contribution toward the Teamsters Pension Trust that was voted by members of the collective bargaining agreement between our office and Teamsters Local No. 117.  This contribution is made by the employee and after two years it is paid by the employer.


Job Duties

  • Process certified request for entire District Court Unit-DCU (Kent, Redmond, Seattle & DV-Misd (Kent)
  • Work within PbK - MyView/Reminders to manage daily requests
    • Verify all documents have been received
    • Scan and upload into PbK
  • Manage closed disc electronic evidence
  • Receive calls by telephone and provide information to the public in accordance with PAO policy
  • Monitor and distribute faxes for DCU
  • Assist Discovery Paralegal manage evidence (to include discs)
  • Help maintain inventory and order office supplies for the District Court Unit (to include Redmond and MRJC)
  • Help request repair services for copy machine and printers.
  • Provide back-up to the Criminal Division front reception, as needed.
  • Interact with the Courts, the Clerk's office, law enforcement, defense attorneys, and the rest of the PAO
  • Retrieve information from several record keeping systems: PbK, DISCIS, SCOMIS, ECR, etc.
  • Provide assistance to the LSP Supervisor, Unit Chair and 2 Vice Chair’s
  • Assist with special projects as they arise
  • Actively participate in PAO equity work, attending equity trainings and discussions.
  • Other responsibilities may be added or changed as business needs evolve.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Knowledge of general office principles and procedures, particularly in the criminal justice system.
  • Skills in managing each task from beginning to end and obtaining all information needed for completion. 
  • Skills in using computers and the ability to become proficient in the use of database programs such as PbK (with training), Word, Excel, Adobe Pro, JABS and ITS. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal directions. 
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with the Courts, management, co-workers, attorneys, law enforcement and the general public.
  • Strong organization skills; ability to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks in an accurate manner with frequent interruptions. 
  • Customer service skills in person and via telephone (discretion, patience, etiquette, professionalism). 
  • Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail and to assume unscheduled and unexpected responsibilities. 
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, exercising initiative, and following through with work assignments.
  • Demonstrated predictable, reliable, and timely attendance. 
  • Ability to accept feedback and supervision. 
  • Ability to maintain security, confidentiality, and discretion involving highly critical matters is essential at all times.
