About the Position: Provide paralegal and administrative assistance to Soldier and Family Legal Service attorneys who provide legal services to active duty and retired members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and their Family Members, and to DOD civilian employees being held liable under of property loss investigations.
Duties- Conducts individual interviews of clients and reviews documents to determine facts and issues of legal consequence.
- Based on information gathered through witness and client interviews and legal research conducted, provide information and legally supportable opinions and suggested courses of action to staff attorneys
- Assist in the preparation of functional attorney work packets to be used by staff attorneys during client interviews conducted by the attorney.
- Determine client eligibility for legal services and appropriateness of legal matters for referral to attorneys.
- Review professional publications and ensure that knowledge is current and that changes are communicated to the staff attorneys.
- Conduct legal research and coordination, and makes substantive, legally supportable, recommendations to staff attorneys based on knowledge, experience and research findings.
