Development Finance Corporation See More Job Openings by This EmployerThe position is within the DFC Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Investigations, which conducts proactive investigations and responds to allegations of fraud, abuse, and misconduct, which may result in criminal, civil, or administrative sanctions. The Senior Investigative Attorney serves as the senior legal advisor and counselor to OIG supervisors and investigators, providing advice on legal issues and sensitive matters in investigations conducted by the OIG.
Duties
- Conducts or assists OIG investigators in conducting investigations involving potential criminal, civil, and administrative violations involving DFC projects, operations, employees, and contractors.
- Conducts sophisticated research, evaluates applicable laws and policy, and proposes viable solutions on complex or sensitive matters involving OIG investigations.
- Provides technical legal advice and guidance on extremely complex legal problems involving OIG investigations, which may be unprecedented or require reconsideration of established procedures and policies.
- Reviews OIG investigative reports and plans.
- Reviews OIG investigative policies and procedures and recommends improvements and updates, taking into account all relevant legal authorities, including emerging guidelines and case law.
- $169,279 - $197,200/year

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Basic Requirements: Applicants must be (1) a graduate of an accredited law school with an LL.B. or J.D.; and (2) a current member of a bar with a valid license to practice law in a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. If selected, an official law school transcript and proof of an active bar membership will be required.

Specialized Experience: In addition to the Basic Requirement listed above, you must meet the required specialized experience listed below.
You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirement: At least five years of full-time professional legal experience gained after being admitted to the bar. The minimum five-year work experience requirement includes at least four years of specialized experience that is directly related to the position being filled. At least two of the four years of specialized experience must be at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to that of an attorney at the GS-14 level.
Specialized experience is defined as experience leading, conducting, and/or advising on federal criminal, civil, and/or administrative investigations. Experience prosecuting criminal cases in federal court is preferred.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
