
DST is looking for a Paralegal for the Office of State Treasurer Division. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.
About Us:The Office of State Treasurer (OST) serves as the organizational hub of the Department and its divisions. OST provides core services that serve the individual divisions, including strategic planning, human resources, communications, legal support, and external (and legislative) affairs.
The Paralegal supports the General Counsel, in-house legal staff, and outside counsel (both Department of Justice attorneys and private firms).
Job Duties:
- Supports the General Counsel, the DST Legal team, and outside counsel in managing discovery requests, particularly with respect to e-discovery searches.
- Serve as primary liaison for internal e-discovery tool(s) to support discovery and public record request (PRR) efforts.
- Serves as primary point of contact for the Department for PRRs pursuant to the N.C. Public Records Act (G.S. Chapter 132) and DST policies.
- Responsible for interacting with a wide range of requestors, communicating with internal liaisons and other personnel, and managing the PRR workflow.
- Supports the General Counsel and the DST Legal team with their PRR review; interacts with the Communications team and DST leadership.
- Helps organize and maintain the DST legal team's electronic and paper records pursuant to DST needs and record retention requirements.
- Must be skilled at handling confidential information, tactful communication, and project management.
- $50,419 - $75,627/year
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:
- Experience managing discovery requests.
- Experience performing legal research of relevant statutes, caselaw, rules, policies, etc.
- Experience drafting correspondence, memoranda, or other communications to internal and external recipients.
- Experience with Record keeping file organization and maintenance.

Graduation from an appropriately accredited institution for paralegal training.

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of substantive paralegal experience.

High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and five (5) years of paralegal experience performing delegated, substantive legal work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
