- Position Summary
The Lincoln County District Attorney's office is looking to add a Victims' Assistant position to their Victim's Department to assist in helping those in our community who are going through difficult circumstances. This person will perform a variety of general office and clerical tasks within a flexible work schedule under the direction of the Victims' Department Supervisor.
This is a part-time, non-benefited position providing essential support to the Victims’ Advocates.Lincoln County Courthouse on Olive Street in Newport- Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Prepare and assists with notifications and other paperwork relating to victims of crime:
- Contact victims to verify phone/address information and notifies victims of their rights.
- Prepare and mails victims’ rights information, forms, and notices of upcoming court dates and case status.
- Check the dockets to ensure proper victim notification is anticipated.
- Assist victims who come into complete forms.
- Maintain records of all contacts, including in our Case Management System.
Provide support to victims:
- Accompany victims to court proceedings and sits with them before Grand Jury testimony.
- Arrange for hotel, meals, and/or transportation for victims for Court and Grand Jury proceedings.
Assist the public:
- Answer phones, routes calls; may answer general questions.
Participate in meetings, which may include All Staff, Victims Assistance, SART or DART meetings.

Minimum Education Level:
High School Diploma / GED
Specifics: Completion of a college level computer course.
Minimum Experience Level:
None
Certifications:
Specifics: LEDS Awareness Certificate upon hire; Notary Certificate may be required upon hire; SVAA Training Certificate required within 1 year of hire date.
Desirable Qualifications:
One year of office experience, supplemented by courses in typing, computer operation and office procedures. Spanish speaking preferred.
Knowledge of:
- Familiarity with community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals for direct service.
- Confidentiality rules in the criminal justice system and victim’s assistance field.
