Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Provides comprehensive support to the Chief Legal Officer in the execution of daily responsibilities and contributes to the Agency’s legal operations across various areas, including case management, discovery, compliance, contract renewals, and legal filings.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Oversees and coordinates external litigation matters, including maintaining communication with outside counsel, managing internal litigation holds, and ensuring timely implementation and documentation in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Assists with all aspects of discovery, including the identification, collection, organization, and tracking of relevant documents and key witnesses; support preparation of discovery responses and related filings.

• Collaborates with internal stakeholders and external brokers to support the annual insurance renewal process, ensuring timely submission of documentation and accurate reporting of organizational data.

• Conducts thorough reviews of legal, business, and regulatory records; prepare detailed summaries, reports, and chronologies to support internal reviews and external proceedings.

• Performs legal and factual research on a wide range of topics as assigned, including case law, regulations, statutes, and best practices in corporate compliance and risk management.

• Identifies training needs and assist in the development and delivery of internal legal and compliance training programs across the agency to ensure awareness of legal obligations, policies, and procedures.

• Maintains and updates corporate records, registrations, and filings with various regulatory bodies, including Secretaries of State, SAM.gov, and other compliance databases; ensure ongoing good standing of corporate entities.

• Provides transactional support for merger and acquisition activities, including due diligence, document organization, data room management, and coordination with internal and external parties throughout the deal lifecycle.

• Provides high-level administrative and operational support to the Chief Legal Officer, including meeting coordination, document preparation, and other tasks as needed to ensure efficient functioning of the legal department.

• Professionally represents the legal department through ongoing communication and coordination with cross-functional administrative, operational and clinical teams within the organization.

• May require traveling, occasionally approximately 5% of the time, in support of departmental objectives.

 

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

• Demonstrates a deep understanding of legal principles, procedures, and terminology across various practice areas, with the ability to apply legal reasoning and judgment effectively in diverse contexts.

• Proficient in conducting thorough and accurate legal and factual research using a variety of tools and resources; skilled in analyzing complex legal issues and presenting findings in a clear, concise, and actionable format.

• Articulate and persuasive communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including attorneys, executives, and nonlegal staff.

• Maintains a high degree of accuracy and consistency in all work product, with a proven ability to identify and correct errors, inconsistencies, and potential compliance risks in legal documents and processes.

• Ability to sustain a high level of performance in a dynamic and fast-paced environment; quickly adjusts to shifting priorities and evolving legal and business needs while maintaining professionalism and productivity under pressure.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Related Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, Paralegal Certification or commensurate experience.

• (5) five or more years of related experience in litigation, corporate or other area of law.

DRIVING PRIVILEGES

✅ May be called upon to drive on agency business. Needs acceptable MVR and appropriate insurance coverage.

TRAINING

Needs to successfully complete all required agency training indicated for this position.

COMPENSATION RANGE

The starting compensation range for this role is $103,379 - $127,143 annually.
