The New York City Business Integrity Commission (“BIC”) is both a law enforcement and regulatory agency. BIC investigates, licenses and regulates the private waste carting industry, the public wholesale food market industry, and the shipboard gambling industry. BIC’s mission is to provide for the more efficient and lawful conduct of businesses in the industries it regulates, protect the public interest, enhance the city’s ability to address organized crime corruption, protect businesses who utilize private carting services, and to increase competition in the carting industry.

BIC seeks a staff attorney to conduct regulatory and background investigations, make regulatory recommendations, draft Commission Decisions and conduct a wide range of other legal and policy work. Duties include, but will not be limited to:

- Conducting sworn interviews;
- Overseeing investigations;
- Drafting a wide range of legal documents;
- Researching, analyzing, and drafting laws and rules;
- Prosecuting administrative violations;
- Working collaboratively with other government agencies; and
- Managing litigation.

Qualifications

Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.

Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
