Litigation Associate Position for Altair Law

Altair Law is a plaintiff's side trial firm based in San Francisco. We are looking for an associate to join our team.

Who are we?

Altair Law is one of the top plaintiff's PI and wrongful death boutique trial firms in California. Our eight attorneys handle a highly select number of cases-ones where the stakes are high. Our attorneys practice law and try cases at the highest level of competence while doing so with civility. We aggressively litigate cases, take depositions, and regularly go to trial to achieve superb outcomes for our deserving clients. Who do we represent?

Our clients have been permanently harmed because of wrongdoing by corporations, insurance companies, or individuals. Our cases are exclusively wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases and are venued throughout California. We meet our clients at one of the most stressful times of their lives. We consider it a privilege that they entrust us to help them navigate their newly found life-changing circumstances. Our clients include pedestrians, cyclists, passengers, drivers, workers, employees, and consumers who have been profoundly injured or killed.

Who are we seeking?

We seek a full-time associate, with 2-5 years’ experience, to join a small team of top trial attorneys and support staff to work on a select number of high value cases. We love to go to trial, and the successful candidate must be interested in trial work. Here are the qualities that will lead to success at our firm:

• Superlative communication skills, both written and oral;
• Facility with the California Discovery Act;
• The desire to take and defend depositions and argue motions and hearings;
• Strong legal research skills;
• Experience drafting motions, discovery responses, pleadings, and legal research memoranda;
• The willingness to be in our Central FiDi office several days a week;
• Licensed to practice law in California.

What is the job?

An associate position with a team of two veteran trial attorneys and one highly experienced litigation paralegal who, together, have a case load of approximately 20 high value, complex personal injury and wrongful death cases. You will be working shoulder to shoulder with the best in the business, learning every step of the way. You will meet with our clients, helping them through the process, including handling discovery and depositions. You will help prepare for and take depositions. You research, draft and argue motions, attend mediations and settlement conferences, draft trial documents (jury instructions, verdict forms, exhibit and witness lists, etc.) and assist at trial.

Salary: $120k to $160k + bonus based on performance and impact, depending on experience. Hours are full-time. This is a hybrid position-but the partners are in the office most of the time, and the more you are in person, the more you will learn.
