Job Description

Job Summary:
The Legal Intern will support the Legal and Compliance team, gaining broad exposure to legal, regulatory, compliance, investments, and corporate operations functions. This role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic public sector environment. Responsibilities include assisting with investment and goods and services contracting, regulatory and compliance matters, corporate operations, policies and procedures, legislative affairs, and open government.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform general or legal research and analysis; draft memoranda on board operations, contracting, legislative matters, employment law, open government, and other topics.
  • Assist with reviewing contracts for investments, goods and services, and information technology.
  • Support the compliance team with regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Review and provide feedback on corporate policies and procedures.
  • Participate in contract negotiations as needed.
  • Draft legal memoranda and internal communications.
  • Research and assist with responses to inquiries under the Public Information Act and Open Meetings Act.
  • Attend board and committee meetings as needed.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be an undergraduate rising sophomore, junior, or senior (May 2026 graduates are welcome) or a law student.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher while majoring in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience through coursework, volunteer work, extracurricular activities, or internships that demonstrate problem-solving, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Must comply with all Texas PSF policies and procedures, including ethics and integrity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Interest in public service, economic policy, education funding, finance, or government is a plus.
  • For law students: ability to conduct legal research, interpret and apply laws, and summarize findings clearly.
  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
