Job Description

About the Position: The incumbent performs a variety of clerical, technical and administrative support work for the U.S Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) Brigade Judge Advocate Office. Duties include processing recruiter impropriety cases as well as other administrative, military justice, and legal assistance matters.

Duties
  • Utilizes office policies and procedures to effectively perform administrative duties.
  • Tracks legal cases concerning improper recruiting practices and adverse personnel actions.
  • Prepare information for distribution to staff within assigned Brigade.
  • Monitors progress of legal cases and actions throughout the Brigade.
  • Conduct follow-ups to ensure timely movement on legal actions.
  • Review actions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Composes routine correspondence on behalf of the Command Judge Advocate Office.
  • Reviewing outgoing correspondence for grammatical accuracy.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing legal sources to prepare documents; retrieving information from an automated system; and reviewing legal documents for accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6) OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Criminal Justice, Law, and Legal Studies. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
