Summit County Public Health is seeking a Paralegal to work full-time (35 hours per week) , Monday through Friday, in our Administration division.

The Paralegal at Summit County Public Health provides specialized legal and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the agency. This role involves conducting legal research, drafting correspondence and legal documents, and managing contracts, including execution, compliance, and database accuracy. The Paralegal also oversees agency records by maintaining retention policies and responding to public records requests, ensuring timely and accurate access to information. Additional responsibilities include preparing reports for the Board of Health, facilitating Records Commission activities, coordinating agency travel requests, and supporting quality improvement projects. The position requires proficiency in legal and administrative software, strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters. Through these duties, the Paralegal plays a key role in supporting the agency's legal compliance, transparency, and overall operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides specialized legal and administrative support to Summit County Public Health.
  • Conducts legal research and drafts correspondence and legal documents.
  • Manages agency contracts, including execution, compliance, and database accuracy.
  • Oversees agency records, including retention policies and responding to records requests.
  • Ensures timely and accurate access to public and internal records.
  • Prepares reports for the Board of Health and facilitates Records Commission activities.
  • Coordinates agency travel requests and approvals.
  • Supports quality improvement projects and special assignments.
  • Requires proficiency in legal/administrative software, along with strong organizational skills.
  • Maintains confidentiality and helps ensure legal compliance and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of certification program for paralegal, legal assistant or legal secretary, or 12 months law school training, or 24 months experience as a paid Legal Secretary or Paralegal.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability and insurance coverage.
