Position Summary:

Fiduciary Trust International of Delaware (FTID) administers all of the Delaware trust accounts (directed trusts and discretionary trusts) for FTI.

This is a rare opportunity to see how a trust company functions on the inside.  The intern will learn about the various types of trusts offered in Delaware as well as the unique laws available in Delaware to modify irrevocable trusts.  They will get to work with a small but close knit group of great group of people in a growing field.

The goals of FTID are to continue to grow the business and to support the FTI team across the organization in serving clients and developing client relationships.  We will continue to increase our visibility across the organization (i.e., foreign trust training) and in the Delaware legal community (membership in WTG and EPCDE).  During the summer months, with the summer interns help, we continue to work on several ongoing clean-up projects (e.g., unbooked assets, unique assets, 2025 and 2026 UAV letters, FBARs, SEMs and account closings, etc.).

Team Culture:

The Delaware team is a cohesive and close knit group of dedicated and hardworking individuals who are committed to providing best in class service to our clients and our internal partners.  The team is very supportive of one another and frequently collaborates to both improve the client experience and to improve our internal processes and procedures.

An intern in this department can expect to learn:

  • Foundational elements of Delaware trust administration.
  • How to work on a team and collaborate with others.
  • How to work with partners across the organization in serving client needs.
  • How an organization runs from the inside out – starting with processes and procedures and continuing with responding to clients and partner needs.

Key Responsibilities Can Include:

  •  Finalizing follow-up on the booking of new assets and updating valuations per responses to the 2025 and 2026 UAV letters.
  •  Following up on requests for foreign bank account information (for assets held in the trust or in an entity owned by the trust) necessary to complete annual FBAR filings.
  •  Working closely with the Delaware Team to obtain engagement letters from all outside tax preparers.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree
  • 2nd year law student.
