SALARY: $41,407 - $45,032 *Additional salary growth available through regular increases within the classification up to $55,907

The Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office performs many duties including prosecuting crimes within the county. This position is a member of a four-person team supporting the Assistant State's Attorneys, Legal Assistants, Victim Witness Coordinators, Restitution Coordinator, and Office Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE NEEDED
- Secretarial work experience or experience in an office setting; college coursework in an administrative support program may substitute for the experience requirement if it provides the knowledge and skills required for the duties of this position;
- Excellent telephone, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Competent in the use of computers and have excellent keyboarding skills to include a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly and efficiently learn various law enforcement software programs;
- Able to handle a very demanding workload with the ability to work at a fast pace with high accuracy;
- Able to successfully handle and prioritize multiple tasks;
- Produce a concise work product with moderate supervision;
- Satisfactory performance in prior employment.
DESIRED AND/OR PREFERRED
- Previous work experience in a legal setting:
- Criminal justice experience to include basic knowledge of court and legal terminology;
- Able to work for numerous people;
- Customer service and multi-line telephone experience;
- Able to quickly and efficiently learn various software programs.
JOB DUTIES
- Answer and distribute in-coming telephone calls;
- Assist people as they enter the office;
- Data entry for case management;
- Intake for law enforcement investigations reports including time sensitive matters;
- Run criminal histories and driving abstracts;
- Close files and transmit fingerprint cards to BCI;
- Draft and file documents for traffic/non-criminal files;
- Miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned by the State's Attorney;
- File room duties as needed.
Timely and regular attendance is required as is the ability to interact productively with co-workers, court staff, law enforcement, and members of the public.
