
The Legal and Compliance department at William Blair plays a critical role in providing pragmatic and strategic advice on risk and legal issues that impact the firm. Our legal and compliance internship offers 8-weeks of project based practical work experience, exposure to William Blair’s products and services, opportunities to network and engage with colleagues and fellow program participants across the firm, and a multitude of professional learning opportunities.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Assisting with onboarding new employees from a compliance perspective (registrations, disclosures, compliance training)
- Review of gifts and entertainment for compliance with firm policies
- Client and employee trade surveillance
- Bond trade reporting reviews and reconciliation
- Monitoring employee political contributions, outside business and other employee activities
- Assisting with anti-money laundering and "know your customer" compliance reviews
- Additional responsibilities as requested
Qualifications:
- Must have completed a minimum of two years of college and be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field with an interest in working in a compliance function
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Flexible mindset and ability to manage different projects and tasks simultaneously
- Experience with Microsoft Office required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to work in a team environment
- Ability to collaborate with others across multiple functions
- Attention to detail and quality
The work formation for this internship experience is hybrid (in person/remote), with three days of required on-site participation at our Chicago office. Relocation is not provided for this internship. The program begins in early June and includes training, community service, and social events.
