Position Purpose

The Assistant General Counsel will serve as a strategic and legal partner to various corporate functions at Lisinski Law, including Human Resources, Finance, and Marketing, and will be responsible for advising senior leadership on compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical requirements. This position will also work with the VP of Legal to manage outside law firms and maintain compliance with applicable ethical rules of conduct. 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic counsel to leadership regarding legal, regulatory, and ethical compliance 
  • Draft key documents and oversee preparation of business filings, applications, and registrations 
  • Advise teams during business negotiations and help negotiate, draft and review business contracts 
  • Maintain and update contract and other document templates 
  • Provide legal advice for teams developing company policy 
  • Review marketing materials for ethical and regulatory compliance 
  • Manage work and budgets of outside counsel 
  • Develop and deliver legal/regulatory/ethical training as necessary  
  • Perform or supervise the performance of audits of key compliance areas 
  • Stay informed about legislative, regulatory, administrative, and case law changes and corporate best practices

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Experience advising clients on relevant areas, including contract negotiation, labor and employment issues, and regulatory compliance  
  • Experience providing advice on and applying Rules of Professional Conduct is a plus
  • Ability to resolve complex legal issues in a business-friendly and cost-effective manner 
  • Excitement for change and growth 
  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Conflict resolution skills and a deep commitment to customer service 
  • Leadership skills and strong work ethic 

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and an active member in good standing of a state bar
  • 5+ years of legal experience practicing business law, with at least one year of in-house corporate experience preferred
