Estimated Salary: $200,000 - $300,000+ per year base salary

A leading international law firm with a global presence is seeking a Senior Patent Attorney to join their Intellectual Property practice group. The firm provides a full range of legal services to clients across various industries.


Description:

The firm is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Patent Attorney to manage valuable patent assets and assess patent risk for their clients. This role involves working under the supervision and guidance of partners in the firm's Intellectual Property practice and performing a variety of patent-related activities, primarily in the areas of patent prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, and due diligence work. 


Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients on innovative and cutting-edge technologies to procure patent protection and build IP portfolios.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients.
  • Provide support for due-diligence, landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis, and validity assessment arising from collaboration with industry partners. 
  • Draft responses to rejection of a patent application for an invention from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and other worldwide Patent Offices. 
  • Focus on patent filings.
  • Support patent litigation.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to a state bar.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in patent law, with a focus on patent prosecution.
  • Strong technical background, preferably in areas such as computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in conducting freedom-to-operate analyses, due diligence, and patent portfolio management.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 


Additional Info:

  • This position involves a billable hour requirement, typically around 1700-1900 hours per year.
  • Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The estimated salary range for this position is $180,000 - $350,000+ per year.
