Job Title: Summer Associate, Legal (Corporate)

Department: Legal & Compliance 

Reports To: Attorney, Legal

FLSA Code: Non-Exempt

Estimated Salary: $33/hour

 

Job Summary:

Cohen & Steers’ Legal and Compliance Department is seeking exceptional candidates for a full-time summer associate opportunity with the Corporate Legal team. The legal summer associate will gain experience working in the legal department of a publicly traded global asset manager. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Assist in-house counsel with various legal projects related to the company’s onshore and offshore investment products and services
  • Support in-house counsel with corporate governance matters and compliance with public company reporting requirements
  • Assist with conducting legal research on new and amended rules and regulations, summarize key highlights, and help formulate organizational response
  • Review corporate policies and procedures and suggest enhancement
  • Assist the team with routine legal matters, including contract management, marketing material review and review of SEC filings
  • Support in-house counsel by preparing for board and committee meetings
  • Engage in educational opportunities led by in-house counsel to gain insight on legal functions relating to the company’s registered funds and other onshore and offshore investment products and services

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate student with expected graduation date in 2027
  • Interest in working in an in-house legal environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial spirit; welcomes change and challenge
  • Teamwork, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and detail orientated

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Able to meet the firm's work arrangement policy in our New York City office (5 days in-office)
