JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
The Paralegal assists in the analysis of an organization’s legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws, licensing, and regulations. They conduct legal research, gather evidence, and make recommendations concerning legal matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:
- Conducts legal research on legal precedents, regulations and case law.
- Assist in investigations and audits related to M&A, complaints, or other corporate transactions.
- Ensures that proper regulations and licensing are current and up-to-date.
- Manage company insurance lines, audits, and claims in partnership with legal leadership and other department partners.
- Facilitates all corporate filings and investigates and/or resolves any filing deficiencies.
- Examines legality of existing company rules and policies upon state/federal law updates.
- Draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and other legal policies and documents legal policies as needed.
- Maintains and organizes legal team finances and budget.
- Maintains and organizes company leased clinical products/spaces.
- Manages company lab licensure and assists with lab equipment procurement and records maintenance.
- Liaises between HR, external counsel, the legal team, and the finance team.
- Tracks and maintains a repository of legal resources, audits and processes.
- Performs ad hoc tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations.
- Ability to read and comprehend statutes, court decisions, legal and technical documents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle escalated customer issues with professionalism and empathy.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with corporate governance, compliance, and legal documentation.
- Experience with legal research tools and software.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field.
- Certification from a certified paralegal program.
- 1-5 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in a corporate legal environment.
- Experience within the healthcare industry preferred.
PHYSICAL WORKING REQUIREMENTS:
The position involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, extensive computer use, and phone interaction. Additionally, the role may require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds for office supplies or equipment.
