
Description:
The Associate Attorney is responsible for handling Residential Portfolio Management matters for the firm. They will utilize legal knowledge and experience to facilitate eviction, code enforcement and small claims matters on behalf of our clients.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Preparation, review, and approval of eviction related pleadings.
- Handle all aspects of eviction, code enforcement and small claims matters including contested matters.
- Participation in mediations, depositions, telephonic hearings, in-person hearings.
- Regular client meetings/updates.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate.
- 3-5 years of experience with eviction-related pleadings.
- Member in good standing of the North Carolina and South Carolina Bar Associations.
- Ability to manage and prioritize large caseload.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Effectively communicates with all clients (via client systems, e-mail, and phone).
- Provides exceptional client service.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
- Conscientious with respect to work completion, deadlines, time management and attendance.
- Analytical and detail oriented, while working at a fast pace and capable of multi-tasking.
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
What are the nice-to-have skills?
Experience with Code Enforcement and Small Claims Matters
- While eviction experience is essential, familiarity with related areas strengthens the candidate's ability to handle the full scope of residential portfolio issues.
Mediation and Deposition Experience
- Prior participation in mediations, depositions, and both telephonic and in-person hearings enhances courtroom readiness and negotiation ability.
Strong Client Communication via Case Management Systems
- Comfort with client systems and platforms can improve efficiency and transparency in client updates and case tracking.
Project Management or Special Projects Experience
- The ability to take on special projects or cross-functional initiatives can add value to the legal team and demonstrate leadership potential.
Multi-State Legal Practice Experience
- If the candidate has legal experience outside NC and SC, it may offer flexibility and adaptability to support broader firm initiatives.
