Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Cargo and Conveyance Security (CCS) Directorate within the Fines, Penalties and Forfeitures (FPF) located in Washington, D.C.
Duties As a Paralegal Specialist, you will use your expertise analyzing complex issues, properly applying agency rules and regulations, and preparing clear and concise statements of fact and exercising sound judgment in arriving at decisions. This position starts at a salary of $102,415.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Typical assignments include: Performing legal and analytical work applying knowledge of legal principles and concepts of federal and general law. Making recommendations to supervisor to cancel cases in which the incumbent determines that no violation exists. Processing some of the Penalties and Forfeitures (FPF) program's most complex cases and assignments, such as Gate Outs, Passenger Vessel Services Act violations, both of which are reported to Congress, prospective seizures valued at $ 250,000 or more, prospective penalties of $ 1,000,000 or more, and all supplemental positions within the jurisdiction of the FP&F Division Director Receiving, examining, and evaluating complex supplemental petitions filed by individuals, corporations, or attorneys seeking relief from seizures, penalties, fines or liquidated damages. Preparing and recommending decisions on cases within the jurisdiction of the (FPF) Division Director. Salary- $102,415 - $158,322/year
