Job Description

This is a full-time position with the Office of Information Technology at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C. Duties The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides the development, operation, maintenance, and support of Information Systems for the Supreme Court of the United States. The incumbent is responsible for design, implementation, and day to day operation and optimization of the Courts SQL Server Databases. The Database Administration (DBA) are responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. The DBA's primary goal is to ensure the security, availability and consistent performance of various database applications. The DBA is expected to build reliable databases that are suitable for the Court's needs. Responsibilities include designing, analyzing, improving, troubleshooting and administering new and existing databases to help users successfully collect, secure and retrieve data. As a member of the OIT team, you will collaborate closely with internal staff, Programmers, Server Administrators, and Information Assurance Group engineers to ensure system availability, consistency, reliability and security. In addition, you will provide technical assistance and identify new requirements. Salary

Qualifications 5 years of hands on experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA. MySQL/MariaDB Administration is a plus. 5 years of experience designing and implementing relational databases. Expert level knowledge of normalization, optimization and automation of database systems. 3 years of experience with production backups, restores and recovery models. 3 years of experience of SQL Clustering, High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with encrypted database architectures 3 years of experience with Windows server, including Active Directory. In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring). Thorough knowledge of various encryption options for securing databases. Knowledge of software development, SDLC, Agile development and application development for web-based applications. Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and Microsoft NET. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good time-management skills. Candidate must be able to demonstrate recent experience performing various database administration tasks including set-up and installation as well as documenting installation and configuration changes. Prepare detailed database planning and design documents, evaluate and implement system enhancements, and diagnosing a variety of database issues. Ability to remain calm and professional in high stress environment when confronted with challenging situations, short timeframes, or other pressing and urgent requests. Education Qualifications include a 4 year computer degree or 5 years of experience in database system administration.
