This position may be filled in any of our office locations, and will work onsite at least two days per week.
The Senior Manager – Legal Support Services is a key position within the legal support structure, providing supervision, direction, and support to the non-practice-based administrative support teams, including the After-hours E-filing Team, Resource Center and any related vendor relationships. The position will help identify staffing needs and plans, develop strategies, procedures, and programs while monitoring to ensure consistent and seamless delivery. The position will promote an energizing and motivating work environment for all employees within Legal Administrative Services. Essential job functions include:
- Responsible for setting objectives, delivering specific projects, monitoring performance and completing Firmwide initiatives.
- Work with Practice Support Team Managers (PSTMs) to ensure non-practice based support teams that are staffed appropriately and provide an acceptable level of performance.
- Manage and ensure adherence to policies and procedures related to recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, counseling and discharging staff.
- Manage the continued development and implementation of non-practice-based support teams.
- Lead meetings and coordinate completion of to-dos after meetings.
- Coordinate, via dotted-line relationship with PST Supervisors to create and implement consistent practices and processes firmwide.
- Create and present PST Support presentations as needed.
- Oversee the performance management of team members based on establishing clear expectations, ensuring understanding of these expectations, and providing regular feedback on performance against these expectations.
- Initiate performance improvement process and ongoing opportunities for development when required.
- Provide leadership and counsel regarding employee relations and performance issues, and assist PSTMs in developing improvement plans for correcting areas of underperformance.
- Develop and monitor assigned Legal Support Services budgets and recommend actions to remain within budget when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- 4-year degree with major coursework in related field required; industry certifications preferred; or combination of education and commensurate work experience required.
- 5-7 years’ management experience in a related field required, preferably in a professional services environment; internal candidates must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in department managerial role.
- Substantial experience leading company-wide initiatives within a multi-office setting; experience in personnel training, policy development, employee counseling, and evaluation.
- Thorough knowledge of legal support trends and best practices.
- Project management or report writing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of all MS Office products strongly preferred
- Ability to become proficient in the Firm’s Document Management System.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken and ability to establish credibility, build trust, and develop positive working relationships with team members, firm leadership, lawyers, and other professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and composure in stressful situations.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic and complex environment, meeting deadlines and successfully managing the daily workload.
- Exceptional judgment, flexibility, and professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a change agent and effectively drive new initiatives in partnership with other firm departments.
- Ability to work after hours, as needed.
- Ability to travel to other offices and events, as needed.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:
- State of California: $94,000 - $180,000
- State of Colorado: $87,000 - $155,000
- State of Illinois: $85,000 - $165,000
- State of Massachusetts: $94,000 - $180,000
- State of Minnesota: $94,000 - $156,000
- Washington, D.C.: $122,000 - $179,000
The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
