Job Title: Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (4428-31)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Starting Salary: $82,573.00 Annually: Additional compensation may be considered based on experience.
FLSA: Salary Exempt
Job Overview: Assistant Prosecuting attorneys appear in the Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division, for Hamilton County, Ohio. They are responsible for the management of their docket, making court appearances in person for arraignments, pre-trials, motions hearings, and trials.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Preparing felony and misdemeanor charges for trial.
- Handling bind over, amenability, and serious youthful offender proceedings.
- Reviewing complaints, meeting with police officers and victims at initial settings.
- Litigating objection proceedings before the Judges, writing briefs, researching issues, and oral arguments.
- Handling specialized dockets such as safe harbor, competency, juvenile sex offender, and expungements.
- Overseeing cases into the Common Pleas general division after transfer of jurisdiction.
- Communicating effectively with victims, witnesses, and police officers.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience prosecuting cases.
- Ability to comfortably appear and argue matters before Ohio courts.
- Critical thinking, decision making skills, and multi-tasking skills.
- Detail oriented, flexible and quick thinking, and ability to learn new tasks.
- Good time management, with an ability to prioritize job duties to ensure accurate and timely completion of responsibilities.
- Fairness, strong work ethic, and high integrity.
- Strong Legal research and writing skills.
- Knowledge and ability to use Lexis/Nexis for legal research.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Outlook.
- Ability to conduct business in accordance within State and Federal statutes and guidelines.
- Ability to perform all other duties assigned, delegated, or required of the Assistant Prosecuting attorney, as well as those prescribed by law.
