
About the Role
We are seeking a Real Estate Transaction Attorney to lead and manage aspects of our real estate transactions. This role is critical in ensuring that our projects are legally sound and align with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of commercial real estate law, a strong attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
The Real Estate Attorney will support the General Counsel and work closely with internal departments (real estate, project management, property management, finance, and accounting), clients, and outside legal counsel to coordinate and manage legal activities relative to the company’s real estate transactions. These include overseeing an outside counsel program, document preparation, drafting agreements, amendments, title reviews, due diligence, project management support, and closing transactions. Additionally, the role will prepare leases for build-to-suit tenants and provide leasing support for in-line shopping centers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Partner with outside counsel partners and internal business groups to oversee the real estate acquisition process for a portfolio of build-to-suit deals, including drafting, negotiating, and analyzing real estate purchase contracts and ancillary documents, reviewing diligence, and managing timelines.
- Responsible for managing an outside counsel program for build-to-suit site acquisitions while retaining 3-5 deals annually to complete in-house depending on deal size and volume; the role may also support the General Counsel on larger multi-tenant shopping center transactions
- Support internal finance, equity, and lending partners to coordinate and oversee the acquisition closing process.
- Prepare lease agreements and amendments for in-line shopping centers and (utilizing outside counsel as needed) and provide support to internal leasing and property management groups in dispute matters.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The ideal candidate will have experience as a liaison between internal business groups, outside counsel, and consultants.

Minimum Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited college/university
- Licensed to practice law in Ohio (preferred).
- Four (4) to five (5) years real estate transaction experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
